(THIS WAS THE MOVIE DEBUT OF JANE SEYMOUR, AS THE LOVELY CLAIRVOYANT SOLITAIRE.)
BARON SAMEDI (SAMEDI = SATURDAY, IN FRENCH) IS A LOA OF VOUDON, OR AS MANY KNOW IT "VOODOO". HE IS A LOA OF THE DEAD, AND ACCORDING TO VOUDON, IS VERY POWERFUL, ABLE TO HEAL WOUNDS AND WARD OFF DEATH, IF HE WANTS TO. HE'S THE HUSBAND OF MADAME BRIGETTE.
THE BARON USUALLY WEARS A SILK TOPHAT, FANCY TAIL COAT AND SILK VEST, STRIPED TUXEDO TROUSERS, ETC. YOU GET THE PICTURE... HE'S A WELL DRESSED, COOL DUDE. HE DRINKS WHISKEY, SMOKES CIGARS AND LAUGHS A LOT AT JOKES THAT ARE GRRRRUE-SOMELY FUNNY. HE HANGS OUT IN SPOOKY OLD GRAVEYARDS AND MAKES SURE THAT CORPSES ROT, AS THEY SHOULD, SO THEY CAN'T BECOME ZOMBIES.
IF YOU SAW THE GREAT JAMES BOND MOVIE, "LIVE AND LET DIE," YOU SAW SIX FOOT, FOUR INCH JAMES HOLDER'S IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE AS BARON SAMEDI. (BELOW)

BTW, --- THE SONG, "LIVE AND LET DIE" WAS SUNG BY PAUL MC CARTNEY AND HIS BAND "WINGS,"WRITTEN OVER ONE WEEKEND. THE PRODUCERS OF THE FILM CALLED HIM AND SAID THEY NEEDED A FABULOUS SONG FOR THEIR NEW JAMES BOND MOVIE. PAUL ASKED, "WHEN DO YOU NEED IT?" THEY SAID, "SOON." PAUL REPLIED, "SEND ME THE SCREENPLAY." THE CATCHY DELIGHTFULLY SINISTER SONG WAS NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR. >>>
