Meanwhile...
Oh, yes, --- I write in a lot of genres, including Noir mystery and romantic western. I also re-tell traditional folk tales and make old fairy tales carefully cracked. I'm often awake very early in the morning. A cuppa, and fifteen minutes later I'm usually writing something. ;)

The Amphibian Man in "the Shape of Water"...
I think he's beautiful...
The Amphibian Man is introduced as a singular, male creature captured in the Amazon and brought to a U.S. government facility
. All interactions in the film are with this male individual, and no female counterpart is shown or mentioned in the script.
Species description: The creature is described as a sapient, humanoid amphibian with gills, webbed limbs, bioluminescent skin, and healing abilities.
. The lore in the film treats him as a unique, possibly divine lifeform, but does not confirm whether his species is mono‑ or poly‑sexual.
Fictional biology: While the film’s “canon” does not address reproduction or female Amphibian Man characters, the non‑alien creatures wiki notes that the Amphibian Man has a cloaca for waste and reproduction.
. This biological detail suggests the possibility of reproduction, but it does not confirm the presence of females in the story. --- Fandom.
